How to add a user to your Google Play Console
Updated 29 June 2026 · ConsoleMint Team
Google Play Console lets you give other people access to your developer account without ever sharing your password, using its built-in Users and permissions system. This is the same mechanism that makes it possible to safely rent out your console. Here's how it works, what each permission means, and how to remove access whenever you want.
Steps to add a user
- Open Google Play Console and sign in as the account owner.
- Go to Users and permissions (in the left menu / settings area).
- Click Invite new users and enter the person's Google account email.
- Choose the permissions — either account-level access or access limited to specific apps.
- Send the invite. The user accepts from their own Google account; your password is never involved.
Admin vs limited access
| Access type | What it allows |
|---|---|
| Account-level (admin) | Operate across the account within the granted permissions |
| App-level (limited) | Access restricted to chosen apps only |
| Owner | Stays you — this is not transferred by adding a user |
Crucially, adding a user never makes them the owner. Ownership of a developer account is separate and stays with you.
How to remove a user (revoke access)
- Go back to Users and permissions.
- Select the user you want to remove.
- Click Remove (or set their permissions to none).
Access ends immediately. Because you control this directly, you're never locked out of your own account.
What this means for renting your console
When you rent out your Google Play Console with ConsoleMint, this is exactly how access is granted — an invitation through Users and permissions, with you retaining ownership and the ability to revoke at any time. No password sharing, ever. See how the rental process works and why it stays safe.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add a user to Google Play Console?
Open Play Console as owner, go to Users and permissions, click Invite new users, enter their Google email, choose the permissions, and send the invite. They accept from their own account — your password is never shared.
Does adding a user give away ownership of my account?
No. Ownership is separate and stays with you. Adding a user only grants operating access at the permission level you choose.
Can I remove a user later?
Yes, anytime. Go to Users and permissions, select the user, and remove them or set their permissions to none. Access ends immediately.
Is adding a user safer than sharing my password?
Much safer. Invitations keep your password and two-factor authentication private, and let you grant exactly the access you intend — which you can revoke at will.
